Every successful entrepreneur must have a good library, but not enough to have the texts must be read

Many times we hear figures like Bill Gates and Ben Carson stay home to read all they can. To be an entrepreneur successful you must increase the quantity and quality of the books you read.

It is possible that reading is not an easy habit to cultivate, but one essential to grow your business.

When I started reading it I really took a long time and not take advantage of my good books . He finished one or two books a month, but did not remember well what had “learned”.

My low level of reading comprehension and speed my little frustrated me terribly.

One day I was struggling with a chapter and bother me so much about myself that I decided to find out how I could read more books, taking advantage of them to the maximum, in the shortest possible time.

With these five tips I discovered I went to read 10 books a month, more or less a new book every three days.

  1. Learn To Read Speed

Attending a course or buy a book on how to read quickly. There are several sources on the internet that can help you, but my favorite book on the subject is Breakthrough Rapid Reading by Peter Kump.

I use my hand to guide me on the pages. This method allows me to lower my sub vocalization (read “aloud” in your mind). I also pushed my eyes to read faster through a visual scan. Instead of reading 200 words per minute, I can now capture a thousand. Josef Stalin say read about 400 pages a day and that John F. Kennedy reached the 1,200 words per minute.

  1. Do Not Read From Cover To Cover

One of the great myths of reading is that you have to read absolutely everything that comes within a book. If you do this, you spend too much time on trivial content.

The average books offer one or two main ideas, good books offer between two and three, lie the great books delivered three to five ideas. Most books are pretty average.

A good author could summarize his ideas in 20 pages, but that does not sell, so usually 200 additional pages are added.

Do not misunderstand, not all good authors fill their books with straw. But how many books have you found that deserve to be read “from cover to cover” over and over again?

However, assuming that most of the books are average – they are-, do you think it makes sense to read from start to finish? Definitely not! On the contrary, you can browse them for about five minutes to catch the main idea. You can then use the index to understand how the contents are arranged in the book.

List the pages you want to check later, as long as they are books you own. Then you can read in more depth for 30 minutes in your second reading to check the best parts of the book. Finally, if the book is worth, give a third review. If the content really liked you, you’ll remember the material for a while.

Imagine that! You have read a book in less than three hours.

The key here is that it is more important to get the best information from 10 books at the same time that one. In a year you can read 120 books.

  1. Set Time Limits

Limits set schedules and reading can help you focus. Date four hours without distractions to read 200 to 300 pages.

The key here is knowing what you want to get every book you read. If you force yourself to get the most out of a book in four hours, I guarantee you’ll be able to. However, if you take a month and do not keep a good scheme discipline, you can not keep your attention.

Many people waste time investigating while reading. If you dedicate yourself to find out what a word means as you read, your attention will be fragmented and will take more time to finish the book. If there is a part you do not understand, write it down for later review.

  1. Read First “Easy” Books

This exercise will help you generate more confidence. You can not generate good speed reading if you start practicing with an academic text of more than a thousand pages. Start with shorter texts from 100 to 150 pages. Try reading one or two a week and commit to gradually increase the amount gradually.

Some books are more difficult to digest (autobiographies and esoteric subjects are so). It is better not start with these texts. Start small and then go increasing.

  1. Just Read The Best Books

Before you spend time with a book, make sure it is worth. Obviously, you chose the text because you thought I could help in any problems. In the first 10 minutes of reading you can identify if the book is what you need.

You can make a rating system of 1 to 10, where “1” the lowest rating and “10” the best designed only for large works. As a good entrepreneur has little free time and you can not waste in books than a “10”.

This also means that you must organize your books. Meeting between 10 and 20 books a month and choose who you’re going to “get” the stack to read. Try to always keep your wealth in this figure and adds new books when you go finish reading.

Reading books leads to great experiences. Enjoy stories, language, jokes and rules set by your predecessors. Fill yourself with useful knowledge and wisdom.
